Ziyan Xiong
Research interests: Robotics, Reinforcement Learning.
I'm a first-year PhD student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, supervised by Prof. Chuang Gan. My research interests focus on how to enable robots to perform complex tasks in a data-efficient manner, presently through teleoperation.
Before joining UMass Amherst, I completed my undergraduate studies in the Yao Class at Tsinghua University, where I worked with Prof. Yang Gao. During my visit to UCSD, I was fortunate to work with Prof. Xiaolong Wang. In my final year of undergraduate studies, I contributed to the Genesis project.
Prior to entering Tsinghua University, I achieved 15th place in the 39th Chinese Physics Olympiad (CPhO). Although I did not pursue physics further, I aim to make my research as interpretable and principled as physics.
In my spare time, I am a passionate but amateur photographer. I was fortunate to summit all three subsidiary peaks of Yaomei Peak (Mt. Siguniang), Sichuan, China.
